So we're going to challenge our thinking today. We can’t let the devil mess us up every time he throws a little wrench in our way.
God as Farmer
One of my favorite versus is Galatians 6:7 it says, Be not deceived. God is not mocked for whatever a man Sows that shall he also reap. We often use this first a bash over our own head when we sin. But what this verse really is is a spiritual law. We talk about this as a way of saying “Hey, don't sin because you're gonna have to deal with the reaping of that sin.” But you know what? When you're doing things to move towards your God sized dreams, when you're sowing seeds to go towards those God size dreams, those seeds are going to reap a spiritual harvest. We know this because Galatians 6:7 says we don't need to be deceived. God isn't mocked. He is a good, good farmer. You guys, when we sow seeds into the spiritual ground of our lives, guess what? God is a farmer to make sure it produces the fruit that he wants it to produce.
It's an amazing thing to consider that whatever seeds we throw into the ground of our spiritual walk, God is working over it to make sure that we produce a fruit of fruitful harvest.
This is what it means when it says that a tree that is in season and out of season still producing fruit. It's because everything that we do for the Kingdom of God produces fruit because God is a good, good farmer. So if you're having roadblocks right now, guess what? It's an opportunity for you to be able to rise above and learn a new way of doing things so that you can produce yet another spiritual seed every time that we overcome. God is so pleased when he's looking down. So every time you come across a roadblock, I want you to remember if you sow seeds into the spiritual ground that will produce a good, good harvest.
Want to do better Every time you come across the road block? It'll cause you want to draw into the Lord and say, Lord, how do I overcome this roadblock so that I am producing good seeds for my business, my ministry, my nonprofit? But whatever God-sized dreams that we have in our life, that's a good one.
Spiritual Gyms
All right, let's go to number two. This is what I call spiritual muscles. If we're learning how to overcome roadblocks, guess what we're building our spiritual muscles so God can entrust us with his God size dreams for our lives. The spiritual muscles are going to be what you need to take big leaps forward when you're living out the gods size dreams of your life.
You see when we think that if we attain that spiritual, God sized dream that we have in our life, whether it's oh, I don't know, going to the Mission field or getting a big house, that we could have lots of lots of kids that we can minister to in the neighborhood. Or maybe it's to build a business so that we're financially independent. Or maybe it's to make sure that our art gets out there in the world to encourage people, whatever the God-size dream is. Even when you get to that dream, you still have roadblocks. So you're building muscles now so that you're able to overcome those roadblocks later on. And every time you build more and more muscles God is saying that he could entrust you with more stuff.
See, this is what it means to be a good steward every time a roadblock comes. If we change your mindset around it. We say, You know what?
This is my opportunity to show God that he could entrust me with bigger things for my life.
So really, work on those spiritual muscles and make sure that you're building them real good. We're gonna take a real quick break.

Check your Tool Belt
Right. Welcome back. So the other thing that happens when we were finding roadblocks in our life is that oftentimes God is trying to teach us new tools for working with others. See, oftentimes big, big God-sized dreams require that we work with other people to make them come to pass. Now, even if your God size dream is having your own business that you work on your own, you're still gonna have to work with people like contractors and different people that are gonna help you get your God size dream out there into the world. And so working with others is a really powerful thing that God wants us to learn when we're overcoming roadblocks.
One of the ways that I can really encourage you is that I have a workbook at my website. The workbook is called Overcoming Roadblocks, and it's all about using storytelling to really have great favor with people so that you can start to build relationships in a totally different way. Storytelling is an amazing way for us to approach every relationship in our life because what it does is builds the know like and trust factor. It causes people to want to rally around you, and it causes them to have favor. You see Jesus grew in favor and grace with God and man. That means that he was always working to try and grow so that people would be more attracted to him and more interested in giving him favor. One of the ways that he did that was through parables and storytelling. And so sometimes we need new tools for working with others. Overcoming Roadblocks just got a whole lot easier…
Faith as Currency
And another final final note on overcoming roadblocks is that faith is a currency. Often times we forget that God is trying to grow faith in us, and we don't really understand why, because faith is such a difficult concept sometimes to grasp. We understand the Bible talks about faith a lot, but what does it mean to have faith in your life? Well, at the end of first Corinthians 13 there's little this little verse that’s tucked away, and it says now faith, hope and love, these three things remain, But the greatest of these is love. Oftentimes we like that second part of that verse. The greatest things of this is love because who doesn't love love? Right? But faith and hope are incredible aspects of our Christian walk. And the reason why is because in the Kingdom of God, faith is a currency. If you think of faith the same way you think of money, it's going to start making you think about what faith really is.
You see, when we come to the Lord And we say, Lord, increase my faith. What we're really saying is increase my capacity to do the things that you need me to do to go about the things doing the Jesus did: increased my faith to be able to take steps forward in my business, increase my faith in order to be able to overcome this current roadblock.
What did Peter do when he was in a roadblock called sinking into the sea? When he went to walk on the water with Jesus, he cried out. He said, Lord, help me! And Jesus helped him face that he came and rose again on the water and walk with Jesus.
Listen if you were sinking in the sea and you don't feel like you have enough faith for what you're dealing with, the roadblock, what's in your path? I really encourage you to consider the fact that Jesus is always there. You can throw up any prayer, and it could be a quick prayer. That's what my favorite prayers are called popcorn prayers. When I say Lord, help me, I really know that as you were dealing with this roadblock, the Lord is wanting to increase your faith. And as he increases your faith, you're going to see that it is a currency that you can use.
The more faith you have, the more quickly you're able to step forward and trust that God's giving you the courage and the ability to take steps forward in your God sized dream.
